Austroads National Harmonisation of Temporary Traffic Management Practice – Update

Austroads Innovative Temporary Traffic Management Device and Solution Assessment (AITDSA) Scheme

This webinar, presented by Austroads Temporary Traffic Management Project Manager Chris Koniditsiotis and AITDSA Workstream Manager Gavin Hill, is an overview of the Austroads Innovative Temporary Traffic Management Device and Solution Assessment (AITDSA) scheme (commencing 1 July 2022).

AITDSA provides a way for innovative devices and solutions used for temporary traffic management to be assessed and recognised by Austroads members throughout Australia and New Zealand.

AITDSA responds to the emergence of new technologies, innovative solutions, and devices that can be used to improve safety at mobile and static work sites that perform a diverse range of functions, including:

• regulating traffic (i.e., to assign priority and indicate regulations in force)
• informing motorists of hazards or regulatory controls ahead
• warning of temporary hazards that could endanger motorists or workers and plant engaged in work on the road.

New Pathway for the Implementation of Nationally Harmonised Temporary Traffic Management Practice

The Austroads project progressing the National Harmonisation of Temporary Traffic Management Practice has gone through a significant reset, resulting from a recent review. The outcomes of the review and resulting reset were recently considered and approved by the Board of Austroads. This webinar, presented by Richard Delplace and Chris Koniditsiotis, covers the following:

• broad findings of the review and reset
• new governance arrangements including newly established Task Force
• focus on major reform implementation and stakeholder engagement
• a staged pathway to operationalisation.

Draft National Prequalification Scheme for Temporary Traffic Management

This webinar, presented by Richard Delplace and Thuan Nguyen on 18 August 2020, provides an overview of the Draft National Prequalification Scheme for Temporary Traffic Management (NPSTTM), which has been developed by Austroads in consultation with its member agencies represented on the Temporary Traffic Management Technical Reference Group (TTMTRG).

The NPSTTM document provides information on a proposed framework for companies wishing to become prequalified for temporary traffic management works. Prequalification is a mandatory requirement for all works managed by state and territory road authorities participating in the scheme. Local governments and other road infrastructure sector representatives may also adopt the scheme as part of their contracts.

Austroads is currently seeking comments on the NPSTTM and this webinar is an opportunity for industry representatives to learn more about the document before they submit their feedback on 28 August 2020.

Draft National Training Framework for Temporary Traffic Management

This webinar, presented by Richard Delplace and Thuan Nguyen on 17 August 2020, provides an overview of the Draft National Training Framework for Temporary Traffic Management (NTFTTM), which has been developed by Austroads in consultation with its member agencies represented on the Temporary Traffic Management Technical Reference Group (TTMTRG).

The NTFTTM document sets out a proposed process and training requirements for practitioners responsible for design, control or implementation of temporary traffic management. The content of the framework will be incorporated in the Austroads Guide to Traffic Management (AGTTM) Part 8.

Austroads is currently seeking comments on the NTFTTM and this webinar is an opportunity for industry representatives to learn more about the document before they submit their feedback on 28 August 2020.

This online presentation provides an overview of the Austroads Guide to Temporary Traffic Management Part 10: Supporting Guidance.

Part 10 provides information on a range of topics to support the information contained within the other parts of this Guide. The information includes, risk management processes, review, inspection and road safety audit of worksites, events and emergency works.
